Advanced Diploma of Applied Aboriginal Studies (91102NSW)


The Advanced Diploma of Applied Aboriginal Studies is a nationally accredited, Abstudy approved course offered at no cost to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people based anywhere in Australia.   The Diploma is delivered by block release study periods over two years.  Recognition of prior learning may be granted on an individual basis.

The course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to work with Indigenous people and organisations.

• Kinship and Belonging to Land

• Australia’s Fourth World Nation

• Case Study 1
• Case Study 2
• Research III: Principles of Historical and Ethnographical Research
• Cultural Affirmation and Consolidation Studies

Graduates of the Diploma are qualified to enter a range of positions within Aboriginal communities and organisations, as well as government and non-government agencies, engaged in work with Aboriginal peoples. Relevant positions include field workers, consultants, advocates, negotiators or educators.
