Tranby farewells an important figure in College history: Judy Chester 1950 - 2010

Judy Chester left a rich legacy. She was a widely-respected grass roots activist in the Land Rights movement, founding the Gandangara Land Council on Sydney's industrial Georges River and working in many educational and cultural projects.

Based in the inner Sydney suburb of Glebe, Tranby is Australia's oldest Indigenous education provider and has played an important role in the struggle for the achievement of social justice for Indigenous people.

Tranby is currently looking for a Program Manager for our Aboriginal Studies and Governance Departments. Under Section 14 of the NSW Anti Discrimination Act 1977, Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Indigenous education professional to be involved with a national icon. An attractive salary package will be offered to the successful applicant, who will be a dynamic, community focused person with an understanding of the crucial role that education plays in the realisation of social justice for Indigenous people. The successful applicant will have a relevant degree or diploma in Aboriginal studies and/or business related field and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of the Diploma of Business (Governance) and the Diploma of Aboriginal Studies to Indigenous students from across Australia, who will undertake study on a Block Release program.
